Office Addition, Part 2 of 2 – Interior

It’s the place where you spend at least 2,080 hours a year – let’s be honest, for most business owners it’s more like 3,000. But tell me, when you think about going to your office, opening that door and stepping inside, how does it make you feel? Is your office the sort of place an intelligent person would choose to spend five (or six) days out of seven?

Last week we spent some time looking at the exterior of this addition, watching it transform through the stages of being built. But once the walls were up, we couldn’t see what was going on inside. So this week it’s time to step through that front door and take a look at the most important part of this addition: the inside. Because, while the outside of your office is where you make that first impression and it’s important that it doesn’t scare away everyone who’s coming to do business with you, inside is where the magic really happens.

Picking up where we left the interior last week, we’re in the process of framing the interior walls:

Insulation time! For the interior walls, we used Knauf® batt insulation:

The exterior walls received foam insulation. In this photo, our tech has just began the process of applying the insulation:

A close up of the finished interior floors, which are stained concrete, meaning they’re both nice to look at now and will still be next year:

And now comes the part you’ve been waiting to see: the finished office. Welcome inside, where the walls and ceilings are covered in beautiful white pine:

If you’re designing your own office you might be tempted to skip this next area, but I suggest you consider following this business owner’s wise example and putting cafeteria area into your office. If you do, you won’t regret it at lunchtime…or two hours later, when your desk doesn’t smell like stale food. Here you can see this office’s cafeteria area, with the kitchen in the background and the restroom on the right:

A closer look at the kitchen, with its Mid-Continent® cabinets:

Take a look at the kitchen countertop, which is made of concrete. Durable and beautiful:

Remember that restroom we caught a glimpse of a couple photos ago? Here’s a closer look – and notice, the vanity countertop in here is concrete too:

And here we have the big man’s office, from several angles:

And this huge wooden thing? A custom-built blueprint desk, perfectly designed for their needs:

What do you think, would going to work be a little more inspiring if your office looked like this? Are you getting cramped in your old space, your papers getting lost because there’s no place to file them? Is there a funky smell hanging around the corners? Are you and your coworkers getting on each other’s nerves because you’re always in each other’s space? Are you embarrassed to invite clients to meet with you at the office? Or do potential clients drive right past your building because they can’t imagine a quality business would have an office in a place like that?

If the answer to any or all of those questions is yes, the first step is a simple one: give us a call at (870) 845-1121 and let us help you find the solution to this problem.

Do you like your office?
