Make Room for the Sun

Since we’ve been on such a roll lately of showing ya’ll the home additions we’ve done, here’s another: a porch that grew big enough to become a sunroom too.

Before that could happen, we poured a concrete cap on the existing porch and added some new concrete as well, so the homeowners would still have some porch space after the addition was built:

As you can see, the new sunroom takes up all the original porch width:

We installed Alside® vinyl siding on the exterior walls of the addition:

The doors were Masonite® fiberglass, both the exterior door…

…and the French doors leading into the rest of the house:

Using Minwax® stain and Helmsman® polyurethane, we stained and varnished both the doors and the wooden trim surrounding the doors and the WeatherBarr® vinyl windows:

The drywall interior walls were covered in Valspar® paint, while the floors were clad with Shaw® vinyl plank flooring:

Even sunrooms can get too much sun, so we installed Levelor® window blinds in the Aged Oak color, as well as a Gree® mini-split AC/heat unit to keep the space comfortable in all seasons:

Lastly, on the front side of the house, we created a curved concrete walkway:

There’s just something about a curved walkway leading to the front door that gives a home a touch of elegance:

So there we have it, another homeowner who took the plunge and now has more space than he did a year ago, not to mention that nice walkway. What are your thoughts? Love it? Hate it? How would you design a little more space for your home?

Maybe you know exactly what kind of addition your home would love. Maybe you have only have a vague idea and need some help figuring out exactly what you want. Either way, a consultation with us is always free and our phone number is (870) 845-1121. It’s up to you. Do you want your house to be the same size a year from now?

Home Generator

The only way in which weather is predictable is that it isn’t always going to be comfortable. Storms will come; sometimes just little thunderstorms, but sometimes ice storms or tornadoes. The next time a big storm hits and your home loses electricity for days or even weeks, where are you going to be left?

This gentleman decided to answer that question with: “Not hot in the summer, not cold in the winter, and I’m not going to be throwing away a year’s worth of spoiled food out of my refrigerator and freezers, either.”

We helped him guard against those losses by installing a natural gas generator with the capability of generating enough power for his entire home when that electricity-stealing storm comes.

First we poured the concrete pad to set the generator on:

Time to deliver the generator to its new home:

Here it comes:

And the new 45 KW Generac® natural gas generator is in place, ready to power the home whenever its needed:

What do you think? You can’t stop the storms from coming; the question is: do you want to set your teeth and try to survive a sweltering home in summer or a freezing one in winter? Or would you rather get a step ahead of Mother Nature this time and take measures to protect your home? We’re here to help at (870) 845-1121.

New Shop Construction
