Cozy Shingle Roof

Last week we talked a bit about shingles versus metal roofing, and we took a look at the difference it can make to a house when you go from shingles to metal. But what if you have shingles and even though you need a new roof and you’d like to update your home’s appearance, you don’t want to switch to metal? You’re not the only one, and just installing new shingles could make as big a difference for your house as it did for this one.

By choosing to go from dark gray shingles to the warmer Rustic Hickory color Heritage shingles from Tamko®, the homeowner brought a new, cozier look to their home:

Is your roof standing up well to the storms of southern summer, or do you tremble every time the wind picks up? Whether it’s metal roofing or shingles that you prefer to have protecting your home and family, we’d be happy to help you figure out what it will take to get it on the house! From Shingles to Metal

There’s a whole debate to be had about shingles versus metal roofs. Metal is more expensive, but it also lasts so much longer that you probably are saving money in the long term. Metal roofs tend to need far less maintenance than shingle roofs, but it’s also true that if your metal roof does need repairs, you will spend more than for shingle roof repairs. Then, of course, there’s the question of which looks better; a question which only you can answer for yourself. This homeowner answered it by choosing to go from drab brown shingles on his house to a brilliant red metal roof.
